Biography
TO LEARN : we gotta say that it's been a while since a French band impressed us that much. Gotta admit their name might sound a bit strange but it's far from being senseless.
TO LEARN reminds us what is essential : keep on acquiring new knowledge and applying it on all levels of our being. This fits into a state of mind that want to be constructive et evolutionary, as nothing is forever granted ! In a more esoteric way, this name means re-learning something hidden deep inside each of us, our very treasure : the origins of life.
According to the group members, it signifies the freedom of speech and the survival in a world where most of us are already dead as they hold back their feelings.
Still with this demanding attitude, TO LEARN shows that nonsense and chaos are reigning over our earth and modern western society. TO LEARN set the tone with this first 6 songs attack and is now "soul searching" in their musical universe for better achievement of themselves. That is their very own world.

PRESS REVIEWS about "NO WAR WITHOUT TEARS"
Metallic hc from France on this record here, quite hectic, with a half-distorted voice and a mighty production. All this comes along quite brutal, especially when these guys get fast, and there are also so surprisingly good included harmonies (end of song 1 or song 4). All the members know how to play their instruments really well, and I like the singer... If you dig the metallic, technical metal hardcore played by some good musicians you should try this one.

This is good stuff. hard hitting metallic hardcore, a little chaotic, here and there quite technically but always entertaining with some cool studio effects. First bands that comes in mind is Botch, even some Drowning Man but less extrem. The good thing about this band is that it never actually gets boring because of the good songs structures mixing up classic hardcore music with spastic pieces and screamy emotional riffing.... trust me it's ccol, one of the good think to come out of france.

" Le message de To Learn est clair, ne comptez que sur vous même en prenant la décision, à un moment donné, de reconsidérer dans sa globalité votre existence et votre personnalité... Pour les connaisseurs le son et le style de To Learn ne trahiront en aucun cas une affiliation avec de très bons groupes tels que Vision Of Disorder, mais il est flagrant ici de remarquer à quel point cette jeune formation semble déterminée à aller jusqu'au bout du chemin qu'elle a décidé d'emprunter, tant les compositions et surtout la voix sonnent admirablement justes. Des titres comme "To learn", "Free" ou encore l'irrésistible "Stand by my side" sont les meilleurs exemples pour illustrer les plus grandes qualités de ce groupe déterminé et décidement très talentueux... "

" Yeah ! ça latte ! Forte influence Convergienne entre autres, mais avec sa propre personnalité, To Learn assène des compos radicales, énergiques et carrées dans un style assez particulier, ce qui fait l'identité de To Learn. Le chant véhicule un je ne sais quoi qui apporte plus d'émotions, plus de sentiments, et sur scène, ça prend toute son ampleur. De par son originalité (devenue de plus en plus rare) To Learn se démarque franchement et sort du lot de tout ce que l'on peut entendre actuellement. Certainement une des futures références du style."

" Ce sont 6 titres que nous propose To Learn pour ce mcd. Marchant sur les traces de Converge, ces 4 nantais balancent un hardcore déstructuré qui n'hésite pas à se mêler de sonorités noise, d'ambiances assez étranges (l'ouverture de l'album en est un bon exemple). Au fil des écoutes, on est de plus en plus étonné de la complexité et de la recherche de certains morceaux. Alternant rythmiques pêchues, passages plus lents et moments carrément ambiants comme pour l'intro de Free et encore plus sur Aesthetik-gnathoflex qui pourrait être issu d'une des dernières productions de Radiohead (mais si!), cette formation illustre parfaitement la bonne santé du hardcore français actuellement : elle en refuse les clichés pour mieux en redéfinir les contours".
